Dalat — I came, I saw, I fell down and fucked me leg up. Today is my last day in Vietnam. Tomorrow, I am getting on a bus to Cambodia. I traveled from the north to the south of Vietnam in 3 weeks, and it feels like I have been here for far longer than that.
For instance, the relationship of people here with dogs is strange. Bigger dogs are locked in chains most of the day. People here are also obsessed with micro dogs that looks malnourished, a pack of them will be huddled on the street while the owner tries to maneuver them to one side. In general, I think a lot of people are ignorant when it comes to taking care of animals and pets. Seeing it so blatantly in the open was uncomfortable for me.
I know human beings treat animals like shit. I know some people who visit Vietnam feels uncomfortable seeing chickens cooped up in a small metal mesh cage, but the same thing happens back home, just behind closed doors.
And yea, after a while, I got used to it all. I traveled to Dalat after Nha Trang. It was bloody freezing when I arrived, the locals were wearing thick, puffy jackets. Plus, it was raining. I am not a clumsy person, so taking a fall like that is so stupid on my part. Till today, my entire left leg is full of cuts and scabs. It had such a chill vibe, people were super friendly and I feel like I could breath.
On my first night, the hostel threw a BBQ for a guy it was his birthday. There were rice wine shots, grilled chicken, veggies and shrimps and barbecued chicken feet. Just get past the idea that the nails are still intact, and chew on the little amount of kinda gelatinous meat it has to offer. Altogether, it was a delicious feast and a great start to Dalat.
