Hi all, I'm moving to Lugona with wife and kids in November and would like to get insights on which area of the city would be best. We currently live in Bruxelles in the chatelain area for the ones that would know the city in a neighbourhood that has quite a nice balance of shops, restaurants, kids playground, market place We would love to identify where in Lugona we could find the same kind of balance. I will relocate to Lugano next week on my own so will be able to do some "field search" but any hints upfront would be really helpful.
Thanks a lot for your thoughts. Hi Tom, Thanks for your answer, at least now I know I need to revise my expectations Let me then return you the question : What neighborhood to aim for when coming to lugano with wife and kid? Thanks a bunch. How much do you want to spend? Do you drive a car and or motorbike? Does your wife? How long a commute would you consider? Hi, How much do you want to spend? Yes, I have a car Does your wife? Nope, she won't have a job at first either, when she'll get one, we can buy a second one unless she can public transport herself there How long a commute would you consider? My job won't be in Lugano but further down south close to the border but we want to leave in Lugano which seems to be more of a city vs. Chiasso for example. For the commute, I figured that I might also take the train from Lugano to Mendrissio and then bike to work only min. I understand that Como can be a nice alternative to Lugano but we prefer to consider Lugano as the destination don't want to create more complexity of being expat in switzerland, leaving in Italy, being french Sean Connery.
Traffic around Lugano is a nightmare. Traffic out of Italy in the morning and back in are also problematic at times. If you do live in Lugano, the flat area such as Viganello, Cassarate is served reasonably by bus and you can then make the station. Paradiso too but you might not want to live there You want to be heading south in the morning and north in the evening.
